Stertil Stokvis engineers have successfully completed an inflatable dock shelter repair at a major temperature-controlled distribution centre, ensuring the loading bay can continue to be used without risking disruption to operations or loss of temperature control.
The problem became apparent when the dock shelter failed to inflate and deflate correctly.
Following inspection, our engineers identified that the internal cord – which runs through the shelter and is essential for its operation – was damaged.
Over time, these cords can fray or break due to wear and tear.
If the cord snaps – as in this case - the shelter cannot deploy correctly, preventing adequate sealing around the vehicle when docked on the loading bay.
To restore the shelter to full working order, our engineers:
Prior to carrying out the repair, a full inspection of the shelter curtain was also undertaken.
Engineers checked for tears or holes in the curtain which can prevent correct inflation and performance.
Where minor damage is identified, patch repairs can often be carried out – or for more extensive wear, the curtain may need to be replaced entirely.
In this case, the remainder of the curtain was found to be in good condition.
Because inflatable dock shelters play a vital role in temperature-controlled warehouse environments, fast repairs are essential.
Any downtime affecting a loading bay can compromise operational flow and environmental stability.
Thanks to the prompt response and efficient turnaround from our engineering team, the dock shelter was quickly returned to service, allowing the distribution centre to continue operations without prolonged disruption.
