Stertil Stokvis Sponsors Banger Rally Challenge for Prostate Cancer UK

This September, two of our own engineers will be swapping tools for the open road as they take part in the 2025 Banger Rally Challenge – a daring cross-continent drive from Cornwall to Monopoli, Italy – all to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

Gareth Watts-Johnson and Ross Prince from the Stertil Stokvis service team will be joining two friends on the week-long adventure, tackling over 1,600 miles through Europe in a car that cost no more than £750.

“We’ve managed to get our hands on a banger, and let’s just say… it’s got character!” says Gareth. “There’s plenty of work to do, but we’re excited to bring it to life, monopoly style.”

An Unpredictable Journey with a Purpose

Taking place from 27th September to 3rd October 2025, the Banger Rally Challenge isn’t your typical road trip. Teams won’t know their route in advance, they’ll be given just 12 hours’ notice before setting off to the next checkpoint. Along the way, they’ll face tasks, breakdowns, and creative challenges to raise even more for charity.

In the lead-up, the team will be documenting every stage of the car’s transformation into a Monopoly-themed rally banger, from mechanical repairs and MOT prep, to custom paintwork.

Raising Funds and Awareness for a Worthy Cause

All proceeds from the team’s journey will go directly to Prostate Cancer UK, a charity dedicated to improving diagnosis, treatment and support for those affected by prostate cancer, the most common cancer in men in the UK.
