Stertil Stokvis UK recently demonstrated its expertise in dock leveller repairs by completing a critical first-fix repair at a DHL distribution centre. The rapid response and efficient repair ensured minimal downtime for one of the logistics giant’s essential loading bays.
The issue was reported Out of Hours (OOH) by DHL operatives, who noted that a telescopic dock leveller had malfunctioned. A Stertil Stokvis engineer arrived on-site within hours and quickly began investigating and diagnosing the fault.
Upon investigation, the engineer discovered that while the pump unit was engaging, it was not generating sufficient hydraulic pressure due to an internal component fault. Acting swiftly, the engineer replaced the faulty pump with a new unit from their van stock. In addition, they identified signs of wear and tear on both the front lip and main cylinder hoses, which were also replaced to prevent future breakdowns.
To complete the repair, new hydraulic oil was added, and all systems were tested to confirm the dock leveller was fully operational. The service engineer also secured loose cables with cable ties and conducted a visual maintenance check to ensure the equipment's safety and reliability.
“Our quick response and well-stocked service vans allowed us to efficiently complete the repair, restoring the dock leveller to full operation in a single visit and achieve a First Time Fix,” said Geoff Evans, Service Manager, Stertil Stokvis UK. “This ensured that our valued customer DHL could resume operations with minimal disruption, demonstrating the value of rapid response and having critical parts readily available.”
